Embrace the glorious mess that you are.
- Elizabeth Gilbert
What brought it on was an announcement of a restructure in my 3-day a week job, the one that subsidises this soul calling. There was a heart-to-heart with my boss where he expresses how valuable I am to the team, but in the new rejigged structure he can’t guarantee me a job. Initially I greeted the news as opportunities opening up, but then after a few hours the malaise crept into my mood. When this happens it tends to spread across every aspect, not just the specific thing that triggered it.
I started to feel unworthy. I felt I wasn’t enough. I felt my energy healing business wasn’t working. I contemplated closing up shop and taking the website offline. I was feeling slightly depressed. I was sadly reminiscing the good ole days when I was “asleep”, when I didn’t have big dreams. Yes, I was living smaller, but because I didn’t know any better, I was happy. But I knew I couldn't go back there.
Then I had a good night’s sleep, made myself a nutritious breakfast and bam, the insights to my dilemma came flying. Just like that I understood what was happening.
Here’s the thing, lovelies. Energy comes in waves. Let’s repeat that again. Energy comes in waves.
Like the waves on the beach, there is an ebb and flow to energy. And although we’d always like to be in the flow state, it isn’t always possible. As we all have our individual energetic signatures, we also have our own individual energy rhythms and cycles. Mine was in the cycle of receding, hence the morose mood I found myself in.
However, because energy functions like a continuous sine wave, it’s inevitable that as I bottom out in the pit of my sadness and self-doubt, the energy will also lift me out of it. And it did. So relieved!
When you find yourself in this state, it helps to pull-back and try not to resist it. In fact, notice and embrace it. Feel the emotion and let it out. Then practice your usual self-love exercises.
- Practice breathing meditation
- Get lots of sleep
- Drink lots of water
- Go for a walk in nature
- Get grounded
- Do something active, like going to for a jog or yoga
- Eat nourishing food
Even better, come see me for an energy tune-up session.
Then its just a matter of patiently waiting it out and being gentle on yourself.
In a matter of moments, perhaps longer depending on your own rhythms, the energy will come back. You’ll bounce back bigger, brighter and lighter than ever. And you’ll wonder how did you ever think you couldn’t be bouncy again….crazy talk, lol.
